Nutrition Philosophy
Food As Medicine - Diet is the foundation of both health and
disease! Nutrients in food can act as “disease inhibitors.”
Studies have shown that diet can prevent disease, delay the onset of
disease, slow the progression of disease, extend survival rates from
chronic disease, and even reverse disease. Unfortunately, there are
also compounds in foods that act as “disease promoters”
and contribute to chronic disease. So, food can be good medicine, or
bad medicine. The big question- "What type of "medicine"
are you eating?"
Cause vs. Effect - Diet and nutrition are not always
the cause of a medical condition, but they always affect the severity
of any medical condition.
Individualized Nutrition - Like snowflakes, no two
individuals are alike. Genetics, family history, medical history, environmental
exposure, diet, body weight, activity, and lifestyle all impact health.
This explains why “one size fits all” diets don’t
work.
You Are What You Eat - If you have a chronic condition,
or persistent symptoms that don't respond to, or resolve with, conventional
treatment approaches, then it is sensible to explore if the foods you
eat frequently (or "chronically") contribute to the severity
of your condition and symptoms.
Existing
In Or Produced By Nature - As much as possible, food should
be chosen in a “whole” or natural state - the way nature
made it - with nothing added and nothing taken out.
